What is the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship?
The Educational Choice Expansion Scholarship (EdChoice) Program provides students from designated public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools. The EdChoice Expansion Program is an income-based program. It provides scholarships to students in grades K–12 based on household income level.
The scholarship amount is $6166 for grades K–8 and $8408 for grades 9-12.
The EdChoice Expansion program is open to students who do not qualify for the Cleveland Scholarship program. Scholarships for EdChoice Expansion are awarded based on the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of a family’s household. If a family’s household income is at or below 450 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, they will be awarded the maximum scholarship amount. If a family’s household income is at or above 451 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, the student’s scholarship award will be prorated based on the chart found under EdChoice Expansion Resources.

How Do We Apply for the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship?
First Time Applicants:
1. Complete the EdChoice Scholarship Application
2. Provide a copy of your child's birth certificate
3. Provide a copy of a utility bill in the name of the parent or guardian. Please refer to the Proof of Address sheet that lists acceptable forms of proof of address.
4. Complete the income verification form and either submit it online to ODE or return to CLA with proof of income and the school will send it in for you.
5. Return these items to the school office. They will upload these into the EdChoice Application portal on the Ohio Department of Education website.
Renewal Applicants:
1. Complete an EdChoice Scholarship Renewal Application
2. Provide a proof of address from the acceptable proof of address list
3. Renewal applicants do not have to provide income verification or proof of income.
